Dr. Hamdy Radwan
Principal
I am Dr. Hamdy Radwan, Emeritus Professor at Winston-Salem State University and former Senior Associate Dean of its School of Health Sciences. Over the past three decades I have served as program director, researcher, and consultant in the field of health sciences, and have published extensively on evidence-based practice. In the Islamic school arena, I had the honor of co-founding Al-Iman Academy (Houston, TX) and both campuses of Al-Huda Academy here in North Carolina, and I chaired Al-Iman School Board at the Islamic Association of Raleigh for several years. These combined experiences in education, leadership, and community service shape my commitment to nurturing a learning environment that is academically rigorous, spiritually uplifting, and centered on student well-being.
Sr. Nida Abbasi
Administrative Assistant
This is Nida’s 3rd year working at Al-Huda Academy as an Administrative Assistant. In this role, she has effectively managed daily operations, supported students and staff, and ensured the smooth implementation of school policies. She strives to create a positive and productive learning environment. Nida loves to bake and read in her free time. Nida was born and raised in Durham, NC, but her family is from Pakistan. She is grateful to be a part of Al Huda and is looking forward to another great school year! In Shaa Allah
Sr. Lamia Hasan
Religious Studies Teacher’s Assistant
Sr. Lamia graduated from Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Commerce. She worked in Egypt as an accountant at Baby Home School and then later on at Middle East Travel Agency. After immigrating to the United States, she worked at Little Blessings Daycare for two years. After moving to North Carolina, she worked as a substitute teacher for Durham Public Schools for one year then went on to become a teacher’s assistant working with autistic students from kindergarten to second grade from 2008-2015. She currently works as a teacher’s assistant for Arabic and Quran. Sr. Lamia is married and the mother of three children. She also volunteered as a Sunday School teacher of Arabic and Quran.
Sr. Soumayya Khabbazeh
Grades 4 – 8 Arabic/IS Teacher
Sister Soumayya Khabbazeh was born and raised in Amman Jordan. She earned her undergraduate degree in lab sciences from the University of Jordan, then moved to the United States with her family in 1993. Sister Soumayya had over 20 years of experience teaching Arabic and Islamic studies at various Sunday schools and Islamic Centers before she joined the faculty of Al-Huda Academy in 2010 teaching Arabic and Islamic studies. She earned an ijazah in Qur’an recitation in 2010 and has been teaching various Tajweed classes since then. Sister Soumayya also has significant experience in planning and executing fundraising events, and she is co-founder and owner of “EventThis”, which is an event planning corporation. She is the owner of Zumurrud Events which is an event planning company.
Sr. Hekma Mohamed
Grade 4 – 8 Quran Teacher
Ustatha Hekma, our Qur’an teacher, teaches students from 4th through 8th grade with a focus on Qur’an recitation, Tajweed, memorization, and understanding.
She is a dedicated and experienced Qur’an teacher who has completed the memorization of the entire Qur’an and holds multiple Ijazahs with Sanad connected to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. With over 30 years of experience teaching Qur’an, Tajweed, and Arabic, she brings deep knowledge and a nurturing approach to the classroom. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Qur’anic Performance at the American Open University.
Ustatha Hekma also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Alexandria University in Egypt, is certified in the Nourania method, and has an Early Childhood Credential from Wake Technical Community College.
Since 2012, she has been a valued teacher at Al-Huda Academy, where she inspires students to recite the Qur’an with accuracy, reflect on its meanings, and build a lifelong love for the Book of Allah.
Sr. Oum Hani Bezzi
Sister Oum Hani is a teacher from Algeria with over twenty years of experience in the field of education. She has worked in various schools in Algeria and Malaysia, which has provided her with rich and diverse experience in interacting with students from different backgrounds.
Currently, she is in her 2nd year at Al Huda Academy as an Arabic language teacher. Viewing this new phase as a valuable opportunity to contribute to the development of students’ skills and enhance a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
Oum Hani graduated from the University of Algiers and holds several certificates, including a certificate in Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers from Umm Al-Qura University in Mecca. Oum Hani is dedicated to providing the best educational experience for her students and works diligently to continuously develop herself by staying updated with the latest advancements in education to achieve the best academic and social outcome.
Sr. Randa Abdelmagid
Sister Randa is our ELA teacher for elementary classes. This is her second year at Alhuda Academy. She has a doctorate in Instructional Design and Technology (Curriculum and Instruction). She also has a Management/Business background in addition to a certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA). Ms. Abdelmagid worked in various educational settings overseas and in the United States. “The best of charity is when a Muslim gains knowledge, then teaches it to other “Muslims” These Prophetic Sayings encourage Muslims to seek and disseminate knowledge. She is hoping that she can help the students excel and instill the love of learning in them to become successful Muslim role models for generations to come. Ms. Abdelmagid is from Sudan and lives with her husband and teenage daughter. She also has 2 step-sons and 4 grandchildren. She enjoys traveling, reading, learning and implementing new technologies, as well as organizing community and educational events.
Sr. Maram Samim
Sister Maram was born and raised in Iraq, where she earned her degree from the College of Business Administration. She spent 10 years working in management at the North Oil Company before relocating. In 2023, Maram joined Al-Huda Academy as a First Grade Teacher Assistant. She is married and has a daughter who currently attends 3rd grade at Al-Huda. Maram is looking forward to another amazing year at the Academy.
Sr. Chahrazed Kadri
Sister Chahrazed is our Kindergarten teacher. This is her third year at Al Huda Academy.
She is from Algeria and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Oran. She is married and a mom of three wonderful children; two lovely girls and a boy who loves playing soccer. In her leisure time, she loves baking.In addition, Chahrazed likes to travel to new places worldwide.
She has a true passion for working with our youngest Muslim learners!! Helping each child progress in all areas of their development is a challenge that she is honored to accept daily.

Sr. Mahnoor Nawaz
Sister Mahnoor is our Grade 2 teacher. Originally from Pakistan, she recently moved to Durham, NC, bringing with her a strong passion for teaching and learning.
In 2022, Mahnoor earned her Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Karachi. She has two years of teaching experience and a deep commitment to helping students grow academically and personally.
Sister Mahnoor is excited to be a part of the Al Huda Academy family and is looking forward to a wonderful school year filled with learning, growth, and achievement. She is committed to helping her students thrive and reach their full.
Sr. Sumble Shahid
Sister Sumble is a passionate educator and coordinator with over a decade of experience in enhancing teaching efficiency, student engagement, and academic success. Originally from Pakistan, she holds a Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Teacher Training from Allama Iqbal Open University.
Alhamdulillah, a proud mother of four, including two sons who are Huffaz-e-Quran. She brings both professional expertise and a deep commitment to Islamic education. With a background in leadership roles at institutions like.The Educators, Grammar School, Beacon House and Allied School system. She is dedicated to fostering holistic growth in students. She looks forward to collaborating with parents and the Al Huda Academy community to nurture young minds, inshaAllah. Outside the classroom, she enjoys spending time with her family and contributing to educational and community initiatives.
Sr. Sahar Mansour
Sister Sahar enters her fourth year at Al Huda Academy with enthusiasm and dedication. In the 2025-2026 academic year, she will be teaching Quran to Kindergarten through 3rd grade students. Her journey in education began in the United States in 2021, and she brings both faith and experience to her role. Originally from Egypt, Sister Sahar is married and blessed with four sons. Alhamdulillah, she is deeply honored to be a part of our teaching community. She is eagerly looking forward to collaborating with you and your child to support their spiritual and academic growth, InshaAllah.
Sr. Tafwiza Sabah Ansari
Sister Tafwiza is our Grade 4 Teacher Assistant(TA). This is her first year at Al-Huda Academy & excited to be part of this academy.
Originally from India, She holds a Bachelor Degree from India and in 2022 she completed a 4 years Diploma in Islamic Education (Taleem Al Quran) from Al-Huda Int’l Institute of Education, USA.
She also holds Substitute Effective Teacher Training Certificate, Wake Tech, Raleigh NC.
She has around 2 years of Substitute teaching experience at Madinah Quran Youth Center (MQYC), Raleigh.
She is married and has two High school going boys.
She is a passionate and dedicated teacher who builds positive relationships with students and inspires students to achieve their goals.
Sr. Fatimazahra Khalal
Sister Fatimazahra is a dedicated and passionate teacher who has been liveing in NC for 15 years. She is a mother of three kids who are part of the Al-Huda Academy family alhamdolilah. With six years of experience in delivering elective courses, she is known for creating engaging and student-centered learning environments. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law and brings an interdisciplinary approach to education, encouraging critical thinking and real-world application of knowledge. She is committed to supporting the personal and academic growth of her students through inclusive and dynamic teaching methods.
In her own words: “I have truly loved being part of the Al-Huda Academy community and felt blessed being a teacher there and I look forward to another inspiring and successful school year ahead.“
Sr. Ghofran Ahmad
This is Sister Ghofran’s third year working at Al Huda Academy as a 2 Grade teacher Assistant.
She graduated with a diploma in mathematics and science from her native country Iraq in 2007. She likes to volunteer on weekends in the masjid. She is a mother to two amazing sons and one lovely daughter. Her hobbies are cooking, especially baking desserts. She is looking forward to another year filled with growth and learning.
Sr. Nabiha Khan
Sister Nabiha was born in Pakistan and raised in Durham, nc. I received my early childhood credentials in 2014 and have been working with young children since then. I have a son who has been at A Huda for 2 years. I enjoyed volunteering at Al Huda over the last 2 years so decided to join the team. I also have a 3 year old. Ever since I was a young child I enjoyed taking care of my younger cousins. I also attended the 1st Muslim school in Durham, NC at Ibad Ar Rahman school. In my free time I like to cook and try new dishes. I also like to explore different parks and places in NC with my children.
Sr. Maab Aldulimy
Sister Maab holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from NC State University and brings a strong foundation in both the sciences and education to her role as Fourth Grade Homeroom Teacher at Al-Huda Academy. She has professional experience as a research assistant at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, where she supported high-throughput toxicology screening projects and gained expertise in data analysis and laboratory instruction.
In addition to her scientific background, Maab has extensive teaching and mentorship experience. She has worked as a biochemistry lab teaching assistant, served as a student ambassador, and taught Arabic to children in multiple Sunday schools. Fluent in both English and Arabic, Maab is passionate about fostering curiosity, academic excellence, and Islamic values in her students. She believes in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that nurtures each child’s potential both inside and outside the classroom.
Sr. Shaheen Quadri
Sister Shaheen is our Grade 1 Lead Teacher for 2025-2026.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from Karachi, Pakistan.
She has 2 years of experience of teaching in Al Huda Academy as a Lead Teacher and is excited to rejoin us after a 1 year break.
She believes in creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment for our little learners Insha’Allah where students feel empowered to explore their creativity and critical thinking skills.
Sr. Shaheen’s classroom will be a space for collaborative learning, where students will be encouraged to share their ideas and perspectives. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
Sr. Tabassum Sultana
Sister Tabassum lives in Durham, NC. This is her Fourth year working at Al huda Academy Durham Campus .This year she will be teaching Grade 5 Math and Grades 5-8 Science teacher. She is originally from India. She holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce (M.Com) from Osmania University. Her journey has included work as a Human Resource Manager, Accountant as well as 3 years of teaching at Alhuda academy . Alhumdulilah Sr.Tabassum is married and has four children and is a part of Al Huda Academy Family. She started teaching in 2022. She is passionate about Math and Science and dedicated to fostering a love for these subjects in students.
Her goal is to create a positive, engaging environment where every student feels valued and inspired to excel. She is thankful to Allah SWT for all the blessings. She is excited and confident to make this a successful and enjoyable year for your child and look forward to working together to help them thrive in Math and Science.
Sr. Qurratulayn Khan
Sister Qurratulayn Khan is our 3rd grade Math Teacher 2025 to 2026.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from India. This is her third year with MAS and her second year at Al-Huda Academy’s Durham Campus. Residing in Morrisville, NC, she brings five years of experience as a medical practitioner. She is passionate about creating a safe, playful, and engaging learning environment that supports students’ academic growth while nurturing Islamic values.
She is excited and looking forward to another successful year at Al-Huda Academy.
